Linking Polos

Effect

Two Polo Mints are taken from the pack and shuffled!! (just kidding), and given to your chums to examine. You place them into your hand and close it. After a few magic gestures you open your hand to show the mints are interlinked.

Stand back, and reap your applause.

How it's done

Here is the secret. "I trust you'll tell not one person".

Preparation

You need a pack of Polos and some showmanship.

Secretly snap a Polo in half, it must be a clean snap and you may need to waste a few but you'll get there with practice. You then thread one half through the center of another mint. Moisten the ends of the other half and stick them together, then leave the whole thing to dry.

The end product...two linked Polos !!!!!!

Getting them linked

Offer your pack of Polos to a friend ask them to take two. Whilst you secretly hold the linked pair in your left hand. Take the two mints back in your right hand and pretend to put them in your left hand. In fact holding them between your thumb, middle and ring finger of the right hand. Let them get a quick glimpse of the contents of the left hand just before you close it (they do not realize they are linked because they do not know what you are going to do yet). Shake your fist, and quickly open your hand to find them linked, and drop them in your friend's open mouth. Because lets face it, their chins will be on the floor anyway. As you can imagine you dump the two separate mints in your pocket, at an appropriate time.
